Nine Of Clubs

Here is the latest section of the Butter Mouse’s book. His odd turns of phrase continue, and many add to my developing theory of what his underlying message is.

He delivers a nice easy task this time. You will not need to go outdoors. If you require a pack of cards, there are plenty of virtual sets online. My latest piece of. flash fiction is already complete, and in a change of rhythm will follow as the third rather than the fourth post of the month.

Despite his eccentricity, the Butter Mouse is right. You can push your creative works much further than tales of Kings and Queens.

I know this is a difficult time to get work done. But let me assure you, my posts will carry on. I wish you safety and success with your creative endeavours.

Maybe I need to go for a run. Last night I dreamt of a man in a bowler hat watching me from the woods.

Hello to you all! I hope you are poised on the bank of your creative river, ready for an invigorating swim.

I know my tasks have forced you to put the hours in. I understand some of you have to put the kids on the line and get the washing to bed. That you can ddim find the time to complete these challenges, and the chance of finding that time in the future is dim.

So this week you will not need to leave your abode. You do not need to cross the nearest bridge. Let your own mind transport you to where you need to go.

Pick your four cards for the week. Use these cards to tell a story. Simple as that! Any medium of creation is acceptable. A story is as valid in paint as it is in words.

Here endeth the instructions. However, one more request before you set off on your quest into the imagination.

Do not make something about Kings and Queens, stealing tarts, why diamonds are your best friends. You can find something more original in the design on the back than that. Do your homework, and you will be amazed by how much knowledge saturates these cards. How much iron there is to mine.  Although this task is simple, it is in this mouse’s humble opinion this is the most difficult and important of them all.

Work hard, and there is a chance that you will make something that will take you to another world.

Pob lwc!’
