I am not going to lie to you. This is a Bloody Mary in all but name. However, I’ve been experimenting with the form, and I think I’ve created something of interest.
As luck would have it, this drink ties in with this month’s carnivore story. Make sure that bacon is so crispy the bits drop into the drink with just a tap.
I distill the olive vodka in large batches. Our basements smells of a deli counter.
Receptacle:
A sleek highball glass.
Ingredients:
100ml olive infused Vodka
500ml tomato juice
A few grinds of pepper
Tabasco to tase
A few slugs of Worcester Sauce
A handful of Ice
Four slices of chorizo
Juice of half a lemon
2 slice of Bacon (both cut into four)
Cocktail sticks (four
Two sticks of celery
Instructions:
Infuse the vodka with olives for at least a week.
Cook the chorizo and bacon beforehand. You want them as crispy as possible without getting burnt. Put two slices of bacon, and one slice of celery on the end of each cocktail stick, and impale into the top of the celery. Set aside.
When ready pour the rest of the ingredients apart from the Tabasco over ice in the glass, and stir until frothy. Flavour with Tabasco to taste. Add the celery, bacon and chorizo sticks as a garnish..
